Artists Statement

 While photorealism draws the viewer into a hyperreality that is clever beyond all understanding, I try to keep my own work within a realism that retains a painterly feel.   I devote myself daily to painting what inspires me most, things that have played a part in my life and led me to where I am in the present.   At the coffee counter the subtle pink marshmallows on a cupcake appeal as much as the pink frosting on a donut until they surpass being mere consumable items and become objects of beauty that have to be painted.  There is always something to paint out in the world, something to bring to life within a painting and something to ponder over. I hope that as an artist I will never lose the opportunity to do that.
